David (Ambystoma mexicanum)

I am making this post out of appreciation for one of the weirdest creatures i've ever had the pleasure of nurturing. My friend David here is an axolotl. They were named by ancient people, who upon seeing this aquatic salamander, were absolutely amazed. It was named after the god of death, and lightning.

He eats the guppies in the tank, and the snails go around to clean. They all live in a bit of a wild place, aside from the intrusion by my hand once a day with the turkey baster!
